“Reclaimed Stories” is a blog created to document the Syracuse Stage production of August Wilson’s Two Trains Running, as the cast and creative team explore various themes found in this politically potent, humorous play. The reason the blog is called “Reclaimed Stories” is because during the Civil Rights and Black Power Movements of the 1960s, African Americans finally had the opportunity to shape their own legacies and break out of the confines of systematic oppression.
Directed by Timothy Bond, Syracuse Stage’s Producing Artistic Director, the production features Wilsonian actors Abdul Salaam El Razzac (Holloway), Leland Gantt (Wolf), William Hall, Jr. (West), Erika La Vonn (Risa), Robert Manning, Jr. (Sterling), Godfrey L. Simmons, Jr. (Hambone) and G. Valmont Thomas (Memphis). Read more about the cast.
Two Trains Running will be performed January 30 – February 17 at Syracuse Stage.
